Making cold-process soap is completely different from making other types of skincare or haircare products, therefore the Cold Process Soapmaking course contains a lot of new and different content that isn't covered in any of our other courses.

Cold process soap is made by combining oils (and butter) with sodium hydroxide, which creates a reaction called saponification. It’s a straightforward process but there are very important safety considerations which we cover in detail.

The types and amounts of oils and butter need to be carefully chosen to create a bar of soap that has the optimum level of hardness, detergency, and foam. You’ll learn in detail about the properties that different carrier oils and butter give to soap and about extra ingredients that can be added, including exfoliants, colorants, and fragrance.

In this 5 module course you’ll learn how to make:

  • Simple Castille Soap
  • Pure Coconut Soap
  • Balanced Beginners’ Soap
  • Palm Oil Free Soap
  • Exfoliating Gardener’s Soap.
  • Charcoal Purifying Soap.
  • Rose Clay Soap.
  • African Black Soap-inspired Soap.
